Join our team of volunteers

Can you spare a few hours a week to help with the day-to-day running of Stoke Community Shop?

We offer the chance to learn new skills and make new friends… and you’ll also be helping to ensure our local village stays open for the whole community.

Each day is divided into 2.5 to 3.5-hour shifts and you can pick one or more that suits you. There are roles that involve talking to customers as well as ones where you can work behind the scenes. All that’s required – apart from your time – is your enthusiasm!

If you’re interested in becoming a part of our friendly shop team, download the Volunteer application form  or pick one up from the shop. Then simply drop the completed form in at the shop or email it to: volunteers@stokeshop.co.uk

We store all your personal information securely in accordance with our Privacy Statement for Volunteers.

Training and development

We are developing a programme that gives every volunteer full training in a range of areas including retail operations, customer care, food hygiene,  lifting and handling techniques, and first aid.

This will form part of an ongoing personal development programme for those who would like to use their experience in the shop as a springboard to securing permanent employment elsewhere or as community service as part of a recognised award such as the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

Any questions?

If you have any queries about becoming a volunteer, email volunteers@stokeshop.co.uk or pop in and ask at the shop.
